"Total Impact"

The KB Foundation is focused on impacting the lives of today's youth by creating fun educational learning experiences. We believe the impact of our efforts, will positively affect the life of each child participating and the community they live in. The mentors volunteering their time and all the supporters helping financially are contributing to the success of these children. The support from others helps to build up their confidence, keep them engaged in positive activities and increase their participation in school.

  • Our mission is to build the developmental and social competencies of adolescent youth in the Philadelphia area through educational, recreational, and hands-on learning experiences.

Programming, led by committed mentors, provides activities that promote team building, healthy mind/body decision-making, community connectedness, conflict resolution, educational obtainment, and career exploration.

  • The KB Foundation is a nonprofit organization, founded by Kirk Berry, committed to mentoring and servicing youth in the Greater Philadelphia, PA area.

Kirk, along with the KB Foundation Inc. designed and deployed the KB P.O.W.E.R Mentoring Camp. The camp is the first program developed by the foundation. It is a weekend-long camp experience designed for young men ages 11-13. The message Kirk shares through the KB P.O.W.E.R Mentoring Camp is full of P.O.W.E.R (Positivity. Opportunity. Wisdom. Encouragement. Responsibility.) and it is for anyone who may find themselves in difficult and often overwhelming circumstances.

  • Since the start of the KB P.O.W.E.R. Life Skills mentoring camp in 2016, we have helped to empower young men between the ages of 11 -13 years old. In 2016 nine young men attended the mentoring camp. By 2022 the mentoring camp grew in size, with 60 campers attending. This mentoring experience is needed in the Greater Philadelphia community and is having a major impact on these young scholars throughout the school year. The camp experience is increasing their self-confidence level, social-emotional skills, team building, and their openness to learning new things.

Our Impact

Statement
of Impact

For decades the office of Health and Human Services
has provided research on the percentage of youth that struggles with their connectedness to school and employment between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. More than 40% of youth coming from low-income homes struggle with being connected to school and/or employment. The ability to not feel connected starts off as early as sixth grade
in our education system.

The KB Foundation is focused on empowering youth through positive learning experiences and helping them to complete middle school with confidence. Having a generation of youth confident they can learn and keep up with their grade level will help to reduce the connectedness percentage previously mentioned.

When our youth feel connected to learning and successfully complete school with a positive experience, it increases their ability to stay connected to employment.
